Build Your Own DC Itinerary

Tell it how many days you've got and what you actually care about, and it builds a real day-by-day plan — not a random AI mashup, but the same routes, museum picks, and neighborhood combos a local would give a friend.

How many days?

What do you care about?

Monuments are always included on Day 1 — that part's non-negotiable for a first DC trip.

Local's Take
I get asked "just tell me what to do" more than anything else. This is my honest attempt at doing that automatically — pick what you actually like, and skip the parts of DC that don't interest you instead of following someone else's generic checklist.

Day 1

Morning

Monuments at Sunrise

Every DC trip should start here, no matter what else is on your list. Start at the Lincoln Memorial by 7:30–8am, before the tour buses roll in. Walk the Reflecting Pool east past the Vietnam Veterans and Korean War Veterans Memorials to the World War II Memorial, then on to the Washington Monument. It's about a mile and a half of walking, and the best hour of light you'll get all trip.

A Second Museum, or the National Gallery of Art

If you're a museum person, use the afternoon for a second stop — the National Gallery of Art (not Smithsonian, but free and world-class) is the move if you did Natural History or Air and Space this morning.

14th Street Dinner

Estadio for Spanish tapas, Le Diplomate for French bistro, or Rose's Luxury if you can snag a table — DC's best restaurant row.
