Yes — every bus marker is a real, currently-active Metrobus, positioned from WMATA's live GPS feed and refreshed roughly every 15 seconds. This is the same underlying data WMATA's own tracker uses.

Why don't I see any buses in a particular area?

Metrobus coverage and frequency varies a lot by neighborhood and time of day — some routes run every few minutes, others every 30-60 minutes, and service thins out significantly late at night. An empty-looking area usually just means no bus happens to be there at this exact moment, not that the route doesn't exist.

Can I search for a specific route?

Yes — type a route number (like 32 or D6) into the route filter above the map to show only buses currently running that route. Clear the filter to see every active bus system-wide again.
